A Fortnight of Community & Connection
Our annual celebration, Abbeyfield Week is back, and this year, it's bigger and better than ever. We're extending our celebrations to a whole fortnight (9—22 June 2025), dedicating even more time to what truly makes Abbeyfield special.
It's a fantastic opportunity to shine a light on the warm, vibrant retirement communities within our houses and homes. We'll be focusing on the wonderful relationships that blossom here – the friendships between residents, the team spirit among our dedicated staff and volunteers, and the strong connections we build with the wider community around us.
Throughout these two celebratory weeks, our houses and homes will be bustling with unique events and engaging activities, all designed to bring smiles, create lasting memories, and strengthen those precious bonds. Get ready to celebrate all the joy and companionship that makes Abbeyfield a truly great place to live, visit, and work.
How we’re celebrating
This year, we're opening our doors wider than ever before! With over 25 diverse events planned across our houses and homes, there's truly something for everyone to experience the warmth and joy of Abbeyfield. From lively carnivals and traditional fetes to delicious BBQs and classic cream teas, plus insightful open days for those keen to learn more – you won't want to miss out.

Blue Light Corner
When: Monday 9th - Friday 13th June, 9am-11:30am
Where: Hope Bank View Dene Street, Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, England, SR3 1EB
Hope Bank View is opening its doors to all emergency service workers. If you’re on shift between Monday 9th and Friday 13th June 2025, from 9am-11:30am, please pop in.
We’ll have complimentary refreshments waiting for you. It’s our small way of saying thank you for your tireless dedication and vital work in our community.
Coffee Morning
When: Monday 9th June, 10am-1pm
Where: Ivy House, Corams Lane, Wellington, Somerset, England, TA21 8LL
Join Ivy House for a relaxed coffee morning in Wellington. You’ll have the opportunity to meet the House Manager and residents, take a look at our private rooms, each with its own kitchen and bathroom, and enjoy the peaceful gardens.
We’re also delighted to announce that the Mayor of Wellington, Janet Lloyd, will be attending.
Community Carnival
When: Wednesday 11th June, 1pm-6pm

Come and experience the friendly atmosphere of our home for a fun-filled Carnival open to our local community. We’ll have a fantastic lineup of activities for everyone to enjoy, including a Dunk Tank, Teacup ride, Bouncy Castle, classic games like Hook a Duck, and more surprises!

Open Hearts, Open Mind

Get ready to party at our Open Hearts, Open Mind party! We'll have finger food, entertainment by Jay and DJ Jimmy, a raffle, and a whole lot of fun! Let's celebrate love, family, and togetherness. All are welcome.
Prize Bingo

Charity Hairdresser Day

In support of Mountbatten Hospice and our local community living with dementia, we are raising money with a Charity Hair Care Day.
For just £5 our team of dementia experienced stylists will provide a cut and blow dry or a gents cut in the comfort of our salon.
Open Day at Abbeyfield House

Enjoy informal chats with residents and staff. Take a tour of our lovely home and facilities. We will be serving delicious cakes, refreshments and beverages.
Cream Tea & Tennis

Join us for an afternoon of Cream Tea and Tennis at Abbeyfield House; a welcoming and secure sheltered house for older people seeking companionship and a sense of belonging in their retirement years.
Volunteer Gardening Day
When: Monday 16th June, 10am-3pm

We’re looking for friendly volunteers to assist with planting vegetables in our kitchen garden, planting beautiful seedlings, and general garden maintenance to keep our outdoor space looking its best. Meet new people and be part of the local community.
Don’t Eat Alone BBQ
