Welcome to The Old Vicarage
Sheltered Housing for older people in Wellington, Somerset

The Old Vicarage is a lovely, historic building (listed as Grade II) located right on the bustling Wellington High Street. It offers bright and friendly sheltered housing in Wellington, Somerset, ideal for those seeking a supportive and sociable home for retirement living.
We have 29 completely self-contained flats offering our residents the perfect blend of privacy and community.

Modern apartments

Designed for comfortable independent living, our self-contained apartments are available as either 1-bedroom or studio flats. Each one is equipped with a kitchenette large enough to accommodate your own cooker and a full-sized fridge freezer. Bathrooms include showers with a low step-in for easy accessibility.

All flats are unfurnished, giving you the freedom to create your perfect home. We warmly welcome residents to decorate their space, asking only that flats are returned to a neutral colour at the end of the tenancy.

A supportive community with dedicated staff

Experience our supportive retirement living community at The Old Vicarage. Friendly staff are onsite every day and happy to help with any issues throughout the week, ensuring the comfortable and smooth running of the house.

Social life and activities

The newly decorated Bond Room is the residents’ central communal area, used all day, every day. It's truly the residents' space to use and enjoy as they wish, and they can invite family and friends. This hub features tea and coffee making facilities, complete with fruit and snacks. We host many fun and engaging activities selected by the residents, which include:
•    Bingo and card sessions
•    Craft making, raffles, and parties
•    Buffets and operatic singing events
•    Children from the adjacent school also visit regularly, creating positive intergenerational connections.

Dining and mealtimes

Mealtimes are very special here. We serve tasty, home-cooked meals to all residents every day in our welcoming communal dining room. The kitchen is close to the dining room, so our staff are always on hand to assist. For breakfast, all residents have facilities in their own flats, giving you the freedom to have your breakfast whenever you like.

Tranquil gardens and prime location

Our home is surrounded by beautiful, accessible gardens which can be accessed from many points. These tranquil grounds contain several protected trees, including a rare 17th-century Mulberry tree. The paths are all walker-friendly, and there are many seating areas along with a summerhouse for residents to relax and enjoy the outdoors. There is also a carpark at the front of the house.

When you choose retirement living at The Old Vicarage, everything is close by. The town centre is a short five-minute walk, giving you easy access to shops, supermarkets, café and restaurants. The award-winning Wellington Park, Wellington Rugby Club, and Wellington Bowls Club are also nearby.

Wellington is a charming market town at the foot of the Blackdown Hills, known for its friendly community and picturesque Somerset countryside. Being right on the High Street. If you are considering other sheltered housing options in Wellington, our other home nearby,  Ivy House is located on the north side of Wellington, just a short 10-minute walk from the town centre.
